About Bali Hope
Team endurance events that make change happen
Bali Hope brings together teams of endurance sport enthusiasts, everyday heroes and elite athletes for unique missions focussed on making specific impact on communities.
Bali Hope was founded in Bali, Indonesia, by Tom Hickman. It was inspired by a desire for greater connection, and to make a difference. Tom had been influenced by Rich Roll and the classic running book by Born to Run. After his solo attempt to run across Bali in 2017 raised $10,000 he decided to build a team to increase the impact and 9 months later in May 2018 the first Bali Hope Utra took place with a team of 13 runners lead by Australian ultra runner Samantha Gash.

A solo attempt to run overnight across Bali to help 7 kids through primary school was the mission that led to the creation of the Bali Hope Ultra. The 163 people who contributed to the $10,000 fundraiser played a huge part in making this project grow.
In May a team of 13 came together from the USA, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Finland and Egypt for the first Bai Hope Ultra Bali. They all completed the overnight double marathon across Bali and raised $82,482 for our charity partners. In December of the same year the first Bali Hope Swimrun took place.
The 2019 Bali Hope Ultra and Swimrun teams broke new ground with incredible races, a team spirit that reflected the power of the Bali Hope family and over $200,000 raised for our award winning impact partners. What a year.
$113,000 raised (so far).
After hosting The Unity Ultra in New Zealand, our first event outside of Bali and the very last ultra marathon before lockdown, we created the Bali Hope Challenge, a global virtual event that raised over $60,000 in June and is back in November
